Tweede Konsert in 2024 Welgemeend Konsert Reeks

Join flautist Merryl Neille and pianist Eugene Joubert on an exploration of lyrical works around the theme of water. The programme begins with Gaubert’s beautiful Sur l’eau (On the Water) in the style of a barcarole or boating song. This romantic piece is then followed by a more modern take on the theme, namely Deep Blue by Ian Clarke. This evocative work conjures whale song with the use of timbral trills to give the music an otherworldly feel. Next follows the quintessential flute sonata Undine by the master romantic flute composer, Reinecke. This original Little Mermaid story is captured beautifully with heartbreaking melodies and fast moving, agile melodic passages. Singer Songwriter Tori Amos’s masterful writing is celebrated next with an adaptation of 1000 Oceans for flute and piano. The captivating journey through the aquatic expressions for flute and piano is perfectly rounded off with Daniel Dorff’s Sonata Three Lakes, which paints with music three picturesque lakes in the states of Pennsylvania and Maine, USA.

Kaartjies teen R 220 / R 150 is by Quicket of by die deur beskikbaar.
